SAVANNAH, GA. (June 12, 2014): One Savannah man is in critical condition and a second has been charged after a shooting in west Savannah Wednesday afternoon.

Michael Jerome Allen, 52, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center after the 2:08 p.m. shooting in a parking lot at East Lathrop and Damon streets.

Phell “Lucky” Hudson, 54, of a Burkhalter Road address was taken into custody moments later by West Chatham precinct Patrol officers who followed him to his house. He was driving a car matching the description of the one described by witnesses leaving the scene. He has been charged with aggravated assault.

Violent Crimes detectives of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department credited the help of witnesses in the area and rapid response of Patrol officers for the quick arrest.

The investigation into the shooting still is ongoing.
