STAKEOUT LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

SAVANNAH, GA. (May 23, 2014): A Savannah man has been arrested on multiple charges after a would-be customer attracted police attention by driving recklessly through a surveillance operation Thursday afternoon.

Colis Jermaine Allen, 35, of the 1000 block of West 41st Street, was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, cruelty to children, no child restraint system, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and driving with a suspended license. Allen has an extensive history of arrests by Metro Police.

He was arrested again Thursday by Central Precinct officers of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department near West 41st and Stevens streets in the Cuyler Brownville neighborhood about 4:55 p.m.

Central Precinct Tactical Investigations Unit and Crime Suppression Unit officers were working in the neighborhood when a detective saw a speeding car conduct unusual turns. Unmarked units observed the car stop on 41st Street and the driver enter another car driven by Allen.

Uniformed officers in marked units approached the car. Inside it they found Allen and a 2-year-old child unrestrained in the back seat along with cocaine, marijuana, cash, scales and other items that could facilitate the sale of illegal drugs.

The child was returned to her mother unharmed.
