SAVANNAH, GA. (May 5, 2014): Officers with the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are seeking help from the public in identifying the vehicle that struck a Savannah man and left the scene Saturday morning.

A General Motors-produced vehicle struck Jermaine Butler, 42, of the 2200 block of Beaumont Drive, as he was walking on Howard Foss Drive near Howard Foss Court about midnight Friday. The vehicle did not stop.

The collision left Butler lying in the darkened street where he was struck by a second vehicle driven by a Savannah woman. That driver stopped to await police.
Butler was declared dead on the scene.

MAIT continues to search for the first vehicle.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or its driver is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
