SAVANNAH, GA. (December 20, 2013): Members of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department accumulated four pickup trucks of canned goods today as part of the City of Great Savannah Canned Food Drive. The canned goods were transported to the Savannah Civic Center parking lot to be combined with goods from other city departments as city employees try to break the 21,000-can donation from 2012. “It is truly amazing and heartwarming to see the effort our officers and civilian employees have put forth for this community,” said Police Chief Julie Tolbert. “This is a side of our employees that the public rarely sees, but we encounter every day. I am so proud of their efforts.”
