WOMAN STRUCK BY PICKUP DIES

SAVANNAH, GA. (December 10, 2013): A 47-year-old Savannah woman was killed Monday night when she tried to retrieve something from an intersection and was struck by a pickup truck.

Donna Neal Sugg of the 600 block of Abercorn Street died at Memorial University Medical Center after the 8:12 p.m. accident.

She had stopped a green Dodge pickup in the inside southbound lane of Ogeechee Road at Chatham Parkway and was bending over to pick up items that had fallen from her truck. She was struck by another pickup driven north in the inside lane by a 22-year-old Savannah man.

The intersection was closed to all traffic for several hours as officers from the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department investigated.

The investigation continues.
