SIP TO HOST CAREER FAIR

SAVANNAH, GA (September 24, 2013): The Savannah Impact Program (SIP) and Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Downtown and Central Precincts are hosting a Job Fair in a collaborative effort to prevent crime and promote community safety.

The job fair is set for 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday, at Bull Street Baptist Church’s College Center, at 17 E 31st Street. Some of the featured employers include the City of Savannah, Savannah Technical College, the US Army, and Jan-Pro International.

The SMART Policing Strategy is a community outreach-focused crime reduction tool, mobilizing resources from SIP, Metro’s Crime Prevention Officers and neighborhood associations.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Savannah Impact Program is a specialized unit within SCMPD. SIP is responsible for facilitating community reentry programs for “high risk” and “at risk” youth and adults. SIP collaborates with sworn and civilian police personnel and numerous community supervision agencies, including: the Georgia Department of Corrections, Board of Pardons and Parole, Chatham County Juvenile Court and the Department of Juvenile Justice.

SIP uses the “Smart Policing” concept of strategic management, analysis, research, and technology as the impetus for pro-active policing.
