FALL CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY SCHEDULED

SAVANNAH, GA (July 11, 2013): The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department is accepting applications for the Fall 2013 Citizens Police Academy.

The Fall academy will begin Sept. 12. The program runs for 13-weeks and allows residents to interact with members of the department and the criminal justice system. Participants also will meet officers from each unit to learn their unique job functions. When possible, the program includes a tour of the Chatham County Jail and an opportunity to ride along with patrol officers.

Applications are available at all SCMPD precincts or by calling Gianna Nelson at (912) 651-2246. Applications also are available online at http://www.scmpd.org. Registration is $10.

The class meets from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Squad Room, at 201 Habersham St.
Applications will be accepted until Sept. 6. There are 30 seats available.
