MAN HIT BY PICKUP ‘CRITICAL’

SAVANNAH, GA (May 4, 2013): A 60-year-old Savannah man was in critical condition this morning after walking into the path of a pickup truck Friday night.

Daniel Sweeney of a Victory Drive address was transported to Memorial University Medical Center from Bull and Jasper streets just after 9 p.m.

Kevin Frazier, 40, of the 200 block of Holland Drive was driving a Dodge Ram north on Bull Street just north of Washington Avenue when Sweeney walked at a fast pace into his path from the west side of the street.

Frazier attempted to swerve to the right but Sweeney continued walking into the truck. Frazier slammed on brakes and the truck spun counter-clockwise, coming to rest on top of Sweeney.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate.
