SAVANNAH, GA (March 31, 2013): One man is in critical condition and two others are stable after a high-speed crash on Tibet Avenue Saturday night.

Reginal W. Washington, 36, of a Woodhouse Lane address, was in critical condition at Memorial University Medical Center after the 9:30 p.m. crash. Chadwick Washington, 16, a passenger in that car and Thomas E. Simmons, 81, of a Sugar Bush Road address, driver of the other vehicle, were listed as stable.

The elder Washington was driving a black 1994 Honda Prelude westbound in the right lane of Tibet Avenue at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle. The Honda slid sideways and struck the corner of a brick and concrete wall at the intersection of Largo Drive.

The collision with the wall split the Honda nearly in half. The front of the car continued traveling down the side of Tibet onto the lawn of a church in the next block, ejecting both occupants.

The rear portion of the Honda bounced into the path of a 2011 Hyundai Sonata driven by Simmons who was driving westbound in the left lane of Tibet. The ensuing collision knocked the Hyundai into the wall and the rear of the Honda on top of the wall.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the collision.
