SAVANNAH, GA (March 22, 2013): Special Victims Unit investigators of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department today arrested a 23-year-old Thunderbolt man after he arranged to meet a 12-year-old girl.

Jesse Brian Sikes of a Robertson Avenue address was arrested in a parking lot on Victory Drive where he had attempted to meet with the girl over the Internet for the purposes of having sex. He has been charged with obscene internet contact with a child.

Metro police had been working with a family member of the child since Sikes had contacted the girl on Facebook, identifying himself as a 16-year-old boy. He sent obscene messages and attempted to set up the meeting.

Instead of the girl, Sikes arrived at the rendezvous location to find SVU detectives, Tactical Reaction and Prevention investigators and a Metro canine officer awaiting him. He was arrested without incident.

SVU continues to investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward. A confidential Tip Line also is open directly to investigators at (912) 525-3124.
