SAVANNAH, GA (September 10, 2012) Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating the death of a Tybee Island man found near his boat off Catalina Drive Sunday evening.

Frank Shuman, 62, of a Lovell Avenue address in Tybee Island, was found floating in the water west of Catalina about 7 p.m. after nearby residents heard a splash and went to investigate.

Southside Emergence Management Service responded to find the man unresponsive and transported him to Memorial University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Tybee Island Police initially responded but alerted SCMPD when it was determined that Catalina is outside the Tybee Island jurisdiction. SCMPD Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the incident.
