K-9 Flash points out contraband for APO Chris Tucker in USPCA review

APO Mike Drayton prepares K-9 Ivan to run obstacle course in USPCA review

SAVANNAH, GA (June 18, 2012) The two newest K-9 officers of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department have been certified to perform all duties after reviews by the United States Police Canine Association held here.

Two Belgian Malinois who joined the SCMPD canine division in March were certified to perform all duties as a police K-9s Thursday.

Although K-9 Flash, trained and handled by APO Chris Tucker, and K-9 Ivan trained and handled by APO Mike Drayton, have been performing some search duties and have performed well, they could not be used in all situations until this certification was attained.

The certification brings the compliment of SCMPD K-9 teams to five. This was the first time the training was handled in-house by department trainer Will Fernandez.
