MEMORIAL TO HONOR 51 FALLEN OFFICERS

 

 SAVANNAH,GA ( April 16, 2012) Fifty-one law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in Savannah and Chatham County will be honored Wednesday, May 9, at the annual Police Memorial Program.

Police officers and deputies from Savannah, Chatham County and surrounding municipalities and counties as well as Georgia State Patrol and federal officials will join city and county officials and members of the public for the 10 a.m. ceremony.

Each fallen officer will be named individually and member of his or her department and family members will present a rose in their memory.

The program is held in Police Memorial Park in the median of Oglethorpe Avenue at Habersham Street. Thunderbolt Police Chief Irene Pennington will deliver the keynote address.

Oglethorpe Avenue will be closed for the ceremony between 8 a.m. and noon May 9.
